Equilibration

This patient was referred by a dental colleague. The patient stated after recent dental treatment her bite had changed resulting in the anterior open bite (AOB).

After carefully discounting late condylar growth and/or other pathology, the patient underwent splint therapy. An equilibration was carried out on articulated study casts initially to assess the likely outcome. The equilibration was then performed in the mouth resulting in more posterior contacts and a reduced anterior AOB.
