Root canal treatment
A root treatment is generally required when a patient is in acute pain or has a chronic infection at the apex of the tooth root. The pulp can become infected due to decay, a deep filling or trauma to the tooth. Symptoms can include pain, increased sensitivity to temperature, discolouration, a metallic taste, gum tenderness or swelling.
Root canal treatment sounds daunting to patients, however we at Wargrave Dental Clinic operate with the intention of a successful and pain free procedure. For best long term success we recommend that premolars and molars are best crowned following root canal treatment to help protect the tooth from fracturing.
